LSN was founded by me, Javik Blake, in November of 2014 at the Norton Middle School. It started with a single idea. To build a destination for Norton sports while gaining real life sports broadcasting experience.
LSN started off small, with a simple video mixer, an old camera, a headset, and the support of our middle school tech teacher Mr. Kramer. As with all new things, the first broadcast was a bit rough. In fact, the first ever LSN broadcast was never released due to the fact that there was no volume (classic rookie mistake) in the broadcast. Over the next few broadcasts we learned through trial and error. Some of the less memorable moments include the time we misnamed a team for the entire broadcast, discovering that files during our early broadcasts were corrupt, times when we lost power in the middle of calling a game and a few basketballs taking out our equipment.
Less than three months after we first started and worked out all of the kinks, we began broadcasting other sports including high school hockey and basketball. In a span of six months, we had grown from an idea into the go to source for game coverage in Norton. As we grew with experience so did our following and support from the school and community.
As I, as well as LSN, moved on to high school in the fall of 2015, we were still growing as soccer and volleyball were added to the games we cover including audio only broadcasts to gain radio play by play experience. More people gave their support and help to LSN, especially Mr. Sumner, the NHS TV/Video teacher, who has lent us equipment to use for our broadcasts. And Mr. Curley who ensures we have access to coaches and teams.
In our first year and over 50 broadcasts later LSN has learned a lot and we continue to learn something new every day as we broadcast and support all Norton sports. Follow us on twitter @LSN_Norton to see our latests broadcasts and keep up to date with breaking sports news from Norton and around the country.
